What You Need to Get Started

  • Your JVLNET username and password.
  • Your local JVLNET dialup number.
  • Your computer - properly connected to a phone line.

Step 1: Initiate the "New Connection Wizard"

Click on the start menu, then go to Control Panel.


Note: If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, 
your will need to select the Start menu, select Settings, then choose Control Panel

In Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections. (If you don't see Network and Internet Connections, you may need to click Internet Properties.)

Click Set up or change your Internet Connection.

The Internet Properties window should display. Click Setup.

Step 2: The "New Connection Wizard"

Click Next> to begin the setup process...

Click "Connect to the Internet" then click Next>

Click "Set up my connection manually" then click Next>

Click "Connect using a dial-up modem" then click Next>

For "ISP Name" type "JVLNET" then click Next>

For "Phone Number" type your local access number which is displayed on your JVLNET Welcome Sheet.  If you don't know your local access number and/or do not have a Welcome sheet, click here.  Then click next to continue...

Now enter your JVLNET username and password both of which can be found on your JVLNET Welcome Sheet.  Confirm your password by retyping it in the "Confirm Password" field.  Then click next to continue...

Now you're done!  Check "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" and then click finish.  By doing this you will have easy access to the internet right on your desktop!

Step 3: Connect to the internet.

Now double-click the JVLNET icon on your desktop.

Verify that all your information is correct and then click "Dial".

When you see "Connecting JVLNET" then you are done!  Enjoy the vast world of the World Wide Web brought to you by JVLNET Internet Services!
