Carole Doubleday, Council President called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. 56 members of the congregation were present which was enough for a quorum. Pastor Koenig-Ray led the devotions. Carole appointed Mary Wendtland, Pat Sauser and Dave Luety as ballot counters.
GOOD NEWS / THANK YOUS: Pastor Tina has accepted the call to become our permanent pastor. The lift is now complete. Thanks to Bob Kristianson and Rollie Affeldt for their hard work on co-ordinating this project. Our thanks to Roy Capes, our maintenance man and Pattye Gilmour, our secretary for their excellent work. Vicki Scopek has volunteered to help with the Hands of Faith. Lana Spangenberg will possibly chair this project. Special thanks also to our treasurer Maggie Janke for all her hard work.
A motion was made by Bruce Johnson that the 2004 Annual Meeting Minutes be approved and was seconded by Nate Anderson. MOTION PASSED.
Recognition of Retiring Council Member and New Church Council Members: Lloyd Jero's term is over. Bob Kristianson, Doris Marvin, Dick Mitchell, Nate Anderson and Mary Wendtland still have more of their terms to serve. Les Nystrom was elected for another year for finance. Candy Hoefer was elected for 2 years (to complete term of Dixie Kalk). Carole Doubleday and Judy Gundry were elected for a second three year term. Bruce Johnson and Don Reedy were elected for three year terms. It was the first time in many years that we were able to cast our vote from a list of several candidates. Thanks to those that participated.
Delegates to the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin Assembly 2005: Char Affeldt and Bob Kristianson were elected to be our delegates at the synod assembly on May 6-7. Pastor Tina will also attend.
Grossman Fund: Money available on December 31, 2004 was $41,747. Beginning account balances for 2005: Outreach = $3,239 - Scholarship = $7,984 - Building Fund
-$627 - Berg Organ Fund = $7,733 - Foundation Account = $23,419. Interest earned was $2,889 and was distributed to the various accounts listed above. Dick Adney made a motion to take money from the Foundation Account to pay the $627 still owed from the Building Fund. Doris Betz seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED. A motion was made by Peggy Johnson to use only the interest earned on the Scholarship Fund, not the principal, when drawing money from this fund. Seconded by Dave Luety. After much discussion the MOTION PASSED.
Financial Audits: Doris Betz moved and Dick Adney seconded that the financial reports be approved. MOTION PASSED. A suggestion was made by Peggy Johnson that those who sign up on the flower chart prepay for their flowers. It would help keep our account at Beloit Floral up-to-date. A motion was made by Bruce Johnson and seconded by Phyllis Steele that the remaining task/committee reports be approved. MOTION PASSED.
2005 Budget: Pledges of 50 totaling $77,855. Estimated income of $97,007 (based on previous 3 years). Difference between pledges and estimated income $19,152. Total expenses for 2004 - $107,969.54. Carole Doubleday went over the budget and explained what cuts were made and why. There was discussion on setting up a voucher system for paying bills in order to keep better track of all expenses. This would help Maggie in paying of the bills. Nate Anderson moved and Joan Guetschow seconded to accept the 2005 budget. MOTION PASSED.
OTHER BUSINESS
Peggy Johnson gave some ideas for fund-raisers.
Spaghetti dinner - Sell tickets a month before the event. Each family sell a book of tickets.
Palm Sunday Brunch
Craft Sale - Have a craft night to make items for sale. Display quilts.
Thanksgiving - Make pies for sale for Thanksgiving. Pie tasting contest?
Pancake Breakfast
A motion was made by Char Affeldt that the freewill offering from the brunch be put in a special fund for buying supplies for future fund-raisers. Janice Adney seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED. This would make it easier to get the supplies for future fund-raisers.
Special thanks go to Peggy Johnson, Cheryl Ramczyk and Char Affeldt and all those who helped with the brunch. It was great.
