FROM THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT

We are off to a new beginning--your 2005 Council met on February 15. The members are Nate Anderson, Carole Doubleday, Judy Gundry, Bob Kristianson, Doris Marvin, Dick Mitchell, Les Nystrom and Mary Wendtland. Candy Hoefer, Bruce Johnson, and Don Reedy are new members. Officers for the coming year are President Carole Doubleday, Vice President Bruce Johnson, Secretary Candy Hoefer, and Financial Secretary Judy Gundry. These people are ready and willing to serve our congregation--talk to them!

We are in the process of filling committee positions so if you have a talent you wish to share to make Atonement run more smoothly, let us know. Bruce Johnson will be the Thrivent Coordinator as well as becoming a member of the Property Committee. Don Reedy will head Stewardship--he is also on the Grossman Fund Administration committee. Judy Gundry does a great job of marketing and she also is a representative for Caritas. The other council members continue to serve on various committees--a listing will be posted on the board in the lounge.

The Outreach committee could use some help as well as the 100th Anniversary Committee. There is a need for teachers for the children (Sunday morning and perhaps Saturday), Readers for Sunday, Assistants to the Pastor on Sunday, Greeters, Hands of Faith volunteers, as well as someone to cook and serve Sunday night suppers for the Young Adult Group. A Palm Sunday brunch is being planned and perhaps a spaghetti dinner sometime in April. If Atonement wants these activities to continue to enhance both our worship service and our service to the greater community, we must have YOU give your TIME--not only your money.

The Council is committed to living within the budget which was approved at the annual meeting. To help us do that, we are working on a system to have the Council approve all purchases before they are made. A Purchase Order Request will be given to the Council for approval; and then after the purchase
is made, the bill will be given to Maggie to payment. More information will be forthcoming on this process.

Let's make Atonement grow by working together. We don't always have to agree with each other, but we must respect each other's opinions.

God's Blessings  --  Carole
