Atonement Lutheran Council Minutes
April 10, 2005

 

PRESENT: Pastor Tina Koenig-Ray, Bruce Johnson, Doris Marvin, Les Nystrom, Richard Mitchell, Mary Wendtland, Judy Gundry, Bob Kristianson, Nate Anderson, Carol Doubleday, Candy Hoefer, Don Reedy arrived later.

CALL TO ORDER: at 6:35p.m. Devotions were led by Carole Doubleday.

Carole asked for any additions to the evenings agenda ...there were none.

GOOD NEWS: The 100`h anniversary was a WONDERFUL time for everyone. The Palm Sunday brunch was well attended and another great day for everyone.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Nate Anderson made a motion that the minutes of the March meeting be accepted. Seconded by Richard Mitchell. MOTION PASSED

OLD BUSINESS:

Operations Manual: Operations Meeting was held March 30, 2005. They will meet again on Wed. May 4th at 4:00 p.m. We are looking for altar guild operations documentation.

Hands of Faith: May is our next Hands of Faith week.

Copy Machine: Carole has not yet found the copy machine representative. They keep leaving each other messages on their answering machines.

Anniversary notes: There were some monetary donations made by some private people to help with the costs incurred. We passed the "cans" 2 weeks and collected $98.51. There is some In Reach money reserved also. Carolyn will create a list of purchases and expenses for future use. When we plan the next big event we will know what we need to do. Council thanks the co-chairs of the Anniversary Committee, Carolyn Kalk and David Rounds for all the time and effort they put into this. THANKS. What a great job!!!!!!!!

Time & Talent Form: We reviewed the time and talent sheet that Bruce created and added a few things.

Treasurer’s Report: Maggie presented the treasurers report. Nate made a motion to accept the treasures report. It was seconded by Bruce. MOTION PASSED.

NEW BUSINESS:

Carole read a letter from the synod thanking us for our benevolence donations.

We discussed the Purchase Order forms.

We are looking at purchasing business card forms at Walmart and creating our own on the computer rather than paying a printer. A dish soap request was also received.

Memorial Day Parade: Candy Hoefer will see if she can get a truck, create a banner and get someone to walk along side with candy to hand out.

Jessica Hoefer asked for permission to gather some of the little girls and dance on Father's Day.

Council would like to thank Sue and Russ Engebretson for laminating the church newspaper article about the anniversary.

Spaghetti Dinner Saturday May 21 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. We will ask the congregation to sell tickets to the general public before the dinner. We will ask property committee for help in setting up, Judy will create some posters to promote it. Peggy Johnson will cook but needs more help in kitchen and decorating.

PASTORS REPORT:

Luther movie on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Pastor will be taking some vacation during the next few weeks.

Some discussion about Saturday night service when there are other events on the same night.

July 21 Caritas will meet here at Atonement 9:30 a.m.

Nate Anderson made a motion to accept the pastor's report as presented. Bob Kristianson seconded. MOTION PASSED

COMMITTEE NEWS:

In Reach: will be doing May baskets for the shut-ins. Stewardship: will have some additions to the weekly bulletins. Worship and music: will meet on April 23
