From the Council President...

Our 100th Anniversary celebration was a success--the turnout for the All Nations Drum on June 12 was great (about 50 people were there)--there has been a baptism--the spaghetti supper was well attended by both our congregation as well as friends--and we continue to host the Hands of Faith.  All these are such positive events at Atonement and the publicity we have received in the Daily News has been wonderful.  Let's not stop here--let's keep going and growing!!

The weekly ads in the Beloit Daily News on the church page which have been sponsored by the Ruth-Naomi Circle in the past will now be sponsored by members of the congregation beginning in July with Pastor Tina.  The cost will be $36.80 per month.  The sponsors will be named in the newsletter--we have sponsors through the month of December.

The Council has accepted with regret the resignation of Doris Marvin.  Doris had been a member of the Council for several years and served as Financial Secretary as well as Chairman of the Music and Worship Committee and also was responsible for keeping the calendar up to date.  We will miss her.

Deena Laird will be leaving soon to begin her internship at a church in Wales, Wisconsin.  In July, we will have a sending off for her during Sunday service.  Wouldn't it be nice if each of us gave her a card and a monetary gift to wish her well on this part of her faith journey?

After much discussion, the Council decided that June 26 will be the last Saturday night service.  There will be no Saturday services beginning in July.  We will continue to monitor the numbers attending our service--in the last 45 weeks, the average on Sunday was 84--low attendance (13) on Saturday.  We should have consistent Sunday attendance of about 160 to justify another service.  Please welcome and help (especially the children) who will be attending on Sunday.  We are asking the ushers to keep a separate count of children so that we know how many are attending.

Ending on a high note--David Reynolds will preach on Fathers' Day and Jessica Hoefer and the girls will dance--we have leased a new copy machine--Bob Kristianson is again planning a tailgate party and Snappers' outing on July 30.

God's Blessings  --  Carole
