Physicians often tell us to stay active in order to maintain bodies that function well and are healthy and strong. The season of Advent calls us to stay active in our spiritual life as well, thus allowing us to be healthy and strong in the faith as we await our Savior, Jesus, born in Bethlehem. Here's an action plan that can guide your Advent words and deeds:
P Wake Up With The Word
Each morning during Advent let your first activity be reading Scripture. (See the end of this article for an Advent Bible reading plan to use.) Waking up with the Word can set a spiritual tone for the rest of your day.
P Dine By Candlelight
When you sit down to eat, light the candles of an Advent wreath or simply light a single candle to remind you that Christ, the Light of the World, is coming to dispel all the darkness of sin and evil.
P Exercise Your Gifts
Flex the muscles of your gifts given to you by God during the Advent season. Using your talents and abilities to the glory of God is a perfect way to express your joy for Jesus, the greatest gift of all.
P Lift Up Your Voice
Open your mouth and sing to the Lord on a daily basis during Advent. Or, if you don't care to sing, somehow make the music of the season a regular part of your day-to-day routine.
P Practice Hospitality
Freely invite friends, neighbors, family members, and co-workers
