Church Council Meeting February 19, 2007

PRESENT: Char Affeldt, Mary Wendtland , Gene Sanda, Norbert Larson, Bob Kristiansen, Pastor Tina Koenig Ray, David Schneider, Bruce Johnson, Carole Doubleday, Judy Gundry, Candy Hoefer

ABSENT: Cheryl Ramczyk, Don Reedy

CALL TO ORDER: President Bruce Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. There are no additions to the agenda. Char Affeldt made a motion to accept the agenda as printed. Judy Gundry seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.

DEVOTIONS: Led by Bruce Johnson. Prayer.

GOOD NEWS: Valentine Sweetheart Dinner went well. They used the new tables that were just purchased. We have had a few new visitors. Choir is practicing regularly again.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Char Affeldt made a motion to nominate Bruce Johnson for President. Judy Gundry seconded the motion. Vote taken.

MOTION PASSED. Judy Gundry made a motion for Carole Doubleday to stay in her current office of Vice President. Bob Kristianson seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED. Carole Doubleday volunteers to take over the secretary position as well as the Vice Presidency. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED. We recognize the need to train someone to take on the Secretary position and the Financial Secretary position for next year.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Carole made a motion to approve the December 11, 2006 meeting minute corrections. Judy Gundry seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED. Carole Doubleday made a motion to approve the January 8, 2007 Minutes. Mary Wendtland seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.

OLD BUSINESS: Native American Ministry, Great Spirit in Milwaukee, we are waiting for further information. Meeting notes on the last meeting for the Latino Ministry.

NEW BUSINESS: Shepherd’s Guide Directory for Rockford area churches.

Thirty Dollars for our line in the book. Char Affeldt made a motion to not continue this ad. Carole seconded the motion. Some discussion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED. Bruce made a request that each committee please submit a written report for the council meetings. Lutheran Campus Ministry for the University of Wisconsin (Madison, Whitewater, Plattevile)

is asking for some financial support to continue their efforts on the campuses. Suggestions: pass the cans in April and include their brochure in the April Newsletter. "Making Ripples" a workshop Saturday March 3, 2007 in Janesville for any one who wants to go $35.00. "Ministry With Working Class Folk" workshop April 21, 2007 Dodgeville. New file cabinet to replace damaged one in office. Bruce and Char will go to Janesville office supply store and look. Put sign up sheets in the back of the church so people will have the opportunity to sign up for things before church.

PASTOR’S REPORT: We need worship leaders. Healing Service.

Char Affeldt made a motion to accept the Pastor’s report. Judy Gundry seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.

CALENDAR: Palm Sunday Brunch, need volunteers

Property: Snow removal, will provide 2 new keys for new council members.

Music & worship: next mtg April. Mary Wentland will be our new council liason.

Office Needs: Synod assembly, magazine subscriptions, wax for candles.

Char Affeldt made a motion to approve purchases. Norbert Larson seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.

Carole Doubleday made a motion to accept all committee reports. Mary Wendtland seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.

Char Affledt has been working on the banner for Deena Laird’s graduation.

Judy Gundry made a motion to accept financial report for January 2007. Char Affeldt seconded the motion. Vote taken. MOTION PASSED.
