ATONEMENT LUTHERAN CHURCH
Council Meeting – August 13, 2007

Present:  C. Affeldt, C. Doubleday, J. Gundry, B. Johnson, B. Kristianson, N. Larson, C. Ramczyk, D. Reedy, G. Sanda, D. Schneider, M. Wendtland.

Absent:  Pastor Tina

President Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.  Gundry moved the agenda be approved; Sanda seconded; PASSED.  Reedy led devotions.

GOOD NEWS—Deena Laird’s ordination was very nice; people from Wales participated and many of her friends, family, and former co-workers.  National Night Out—30 to 40 people from the neighborhood attended.

Ramczyk moved that the minutes of the July 9, 2007, Council Meeting be approved; Kristianson seconded; PASSED.

Rev. Larry Westfield from the ELCA Foundation presented information about endowments and distributed some handouts.  He will be here on September 9 to talk to the congregation.

OLD BUSINESS—Rollyn Affeldt is working with Reeder’s and Quigley-Smart on a date when they can meet with the Property Committee and the Council to talk about the proposals for new furnaces. 

PASTOR’S REPORT—C. Affeldt moved that the written report be accepted; Kristianson seconded; PASSED.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

• Financial Secretary & Marketing report – attached
• In-reach/Outreach reports – attached
• YAG will begin September 9.  Posters have been distributed.  There is a sign-up for suppers.
• Hands of Faith will be here October 7 – 13, 2007.
• Office needs:  Roll of 100 stamps - $41.  Reimbursement to Pastor Tina:  Bishop’s Convocation  Sept. 24 – 26 - $230; Senior Fair - $40; Confirmation for Michael Janke - $71.  Total is $382.  Doubleday moved and Sanda seconded that these items totaling $382 be taken care of; PASSED.
• Gundry moved; Reedy seconded that the Committee Reports be accepted; PASSED.

A discussion was held about the mailing of bulletins to the assistants and readers as well as mailing newsletters to people who do not pick them up at church.  Newsletters should be kept for two weeks before mailing.  Should we have a mailbox installed outside the church?

FINANCIAL REPORT—Affeldt moved that the report be accepted as printed; Ramczyk seconded; PASSED.

The next meeting will be September 10, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.  Bruce Johnson will be gone; Carole Doubleday will chair the meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.  We closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
