Student Management Screens
Following are a number of screen shots of the class and student management system for ModuMath. The system allows for an administrator with complete access who can set up instructors who would have access to their classes and students. Instructors can have multiple classes in both Math which includes Measurement and/or Algebra. Student records can be kept on a local hard drive for a single stand-alone computer, on a network drive for multiple networked computers, or on floppy disks if multiple stand-alone computers are used. The management system is all menu driven and is pretty easy to use.
Following a log-in screen, the following administrative menu appears. The Administrator can register instructors into the system and view student records, but they cannot actually set up classes or enroll students.

When instructors log-in, they come to the following menu which allows them to work with classes, students, or back up their records.

Selecting “Organize Classes” brings up the following “Class Menu” allowing an instructor to create a class, enroll students in existing classes, assign lessons, or delete students / classes.

When going to “Create a Class”, the instructor is first asked to pick either mathematics or algebra. After that selection, the following screen appears for setting the basic parameters of the class. When selecting a location to store student records, the Hard Drive selection will store the records in the location that the program is installed, either on the local hard drive or a network drive.

Once you have the class created, you can enroll students using the following screen. Again, there are choices. If you are enrolling a group of students at one time who will all have the same assignment, it is faster to “Save & Enroll another student” and then do assignments later. I you are only enrolling one student, you can go to “Assign Lessons” and then make a lesson assignment. The Student ID is what the student will use to log into the system and can be up to 9 alpha-numeric characters.

Lessons can be assigned in one of two ways using the following screen. The “By the Instructor” button will allow the instructor to assign specific lessons from the course to the student. The student will be forced to take them in sequence. The “By the Assessment Test” will present the student with a placement test the first time they log in. For Arithmetic, this placement test could be up to 60 questions if the student continues to get correct answers. Otherwise, once they have hit a frustration point where they have incorrectly answered two or more questions from the same lesson, the assessment test will send the student out of the program and will assign lessons from that point on. “By the Student” allows the student to move around the program at will. The first two assignment types will allow a student to go back to any lesson prior to their current lesson but will not allow them to skip forward with out passing the lesson test with a passing score (set when the class was created).

The program keeps records on each student which can be either viewed or printed through the “View Student Records” screen from the instructor main menu below.

The class roster lists the names of the students alphabetically by last name along with their course ID, the last time they used the program, their current lesson. The number of times they tried taking the current test, and their average grade for the course. The program will flag students who have taken a test 3 or more times so the instructor can work with them. Because this is actual student data, I’ve erased most of the last names and ID numbers for these students.

The Student Performance Summary lists basic information about the lessons in a course. The “No’s” in the required column are for lessons that were either not assigned by the instructor or in this case, by the placement test. The last Test Column just keeps the score of the last test the student has taken although the system keeps track of all tests and work.

The Student Activities screen lists more detailed information about the work a student has done on the system including the date, time spent on the activity, and what was accomplished.

The final screen, which I haven’t shown, lists the final test scores for the selected student. It allows the instructor to select and review all the questions and the answers the student gave for the last test they have taken.
